iNetwork Mobile App
Adobe XD Creative Jam

OVERVIEW
iNetwork is a mobile app that provides assistance to immigrants migrating to North America. This app aims to be a “one stop shop” and strives to support a positive transition that will empower their overall mental well-being.
The reason why we chose to create this app is because of our personal experiences as children of immigrants. I am a first-generation Haitian-American and my partner is a first-generation Asian-Canadian.
Growing up I saw how my parents struggled with their transition to the United States. They faced many challenges that still affect them today. In designing this app I wanted to find a way that the transition would be more efficient for those in similar circumstances.

KEY GOAL
To create an intuitive mental health awareness app and compete against other designers across the world.
PROBLEM
Unbeknownst to many, new immigrants are at a higher risk to mental health issues than other citizens. Their mental health is impacted by a variety of stressors, such as lack of community, language barriers, accessibility, and unemployment. They don't have access to a platform that can help them effectively transition to their new country of origin.
THE SOLUTION
iNetwork is a “one stop shop” that strives to support a positive transition and to empower overall mental wellbeing. To make the interface intuitive, an avatar named Lisa was implemented to help guide users through the tedious onboarding process. The friendly images and use of green tones throughout the design were also used to create a welcoming and supportive environment for users. By offering newcomers with access to valued resources and services, this app will inadvertently improve the mental health of its users.

MY ROLE
I needed to create an attainable project plan since we had a short window to design the app from start to finish. As the design lead, I took charge created a Trello board to conduct our daily standup meetings where we discussed what we were working on for the day and if there were any blockers preventing the workflow.

USER RESEARCH
I used survey monkey to run a quick survey with immigrants that have relocated to North America and asked them a set of questions about their experience with migrating. 10 people responded.

INSIGHTS
From the responses I gathered from the surveys, it was clear that there was a need for a resource to help immigrants relocate to North America. iNetwork is that resource.
USER PERSONA
After compiling and analyzing data, the user persona of Maritza Perez was created.
Maritza is a mom of 3. She recently relocated to Canada from Peru in hopes for a better quality of life for her and her family. She is seeking work opportunities and also determined to adjust to the new country that is still foreign to her.

FEATURE
PRIORITIZATION
I then used Miro a tool used for designers to collaborate and conducted a feature prioritization activity to figure out what featured we wanted the app to have.

USABILITY TESTING
Before moving on to hi-fi wireframes, I wanted to make sure the app I created was functional and covered all the necessary workflows. I tested on 5 different people who were asked to go through several tasks that would allow them to experience the whole app.

Community Support Groups
If I had more time I would add the community support group feature for immigrants to connect with other immigrants to provide support to one another.
Keep Learning
It’s always important to be receptive to new knowledge and keep learning. Although the Adobe XD challenge was very fast paced, it was nice to see what others competitors were doing and I learned a lot more about UX trends and processes from their projects.
